S/S Hindenburg

Hindenburg was a German icebreaker from the Imperialfleet.. In 1918 she served both as an icebreaker as well as a protection from mines, as the Åland waters at this time was heavily mined. Only a short distance from Eckerö Hindenburg hit a mine, which blew a big hole in the bow. The ship took in water rapidly and three men from the crew lost their lives, so please treat the wreck respectfully.

This wreck is truly unique, 51 metres long and 13 metres  wide, with many fascinating details to view. Only 12 occasions for diving is offered here every year so this is really exclusive diving. The depth is between 37-47 metres, and many fascinating details can be seen.
