Nederland was a Dutch river sailing barge which sank in 1917 on route from Hanko in Finland to Holland with hand-hewn cobblestones from the Russian Tsarist Empire. Her voyage is a bit of a mystery when one is intrigued by what a river sailing barge was doing in Åland waters in the midst of a raging war. The wreck is about 35 meters long and 8 meters wide. She rests at the edge of Marhällarns reef at 20-24 meters depth. Visibility varies from 5-15 meters. Things to be seen includes a complete windlass, the folding mast and a magnificent transom.
